Mnemba Island
The world-reknowed marine reserve of Mnemba Island is considered the tropical fish capital and famous for the best diving in Zanzibar.
Situated to the northeast of Zanzibar, Mnemba is well known for encounters with pods of dolphins, abundant sealife and great visibility.
Below we share our dive map. Be inspired by our presentation of the most popular reefs (level, depth, type, reef, sea life).

Excursions
We offer daily scuba diving excursions from Nungwi to the best sites Kichwani and Wattambomie at Mnemba.
The approach takes 20-45 minutes from our diving centre.
Our excursions start at 8:00 AM and return around 1:00 PM.

Kichwani
Kichwani is one of our most beautiful dive sites, ideal for snorkelers, beginner and qualified divers, situated to the southeast of Mnemba Island.

Sloping wall
Reef
The famous reef is a sloping wall with a depth range from 2 to 30 meters. It is covered with hard and soft corals interspersed with a huge variety of marine life. With a mild current you can enjoy a drift dive along the wall.
Common Sea Life Sightings
Bluefin trevallys, napoleon wrasses, moray eels, triggerfish, scorpionfish, leaf fish, mackerels, nudibranchs, schools of colorful reef fish and many more. On occasion you may spot a white tip reef shark.

Wattabomie
Wattabomie is a wonderful dive site for both the experienced and inexperienced divers, situated to the south of Mnemba Island.

Coral reef
Reef
The gentle slope of the reef with a depth from 6 to 30 meters makes it ideal for relaxed diving. Its unique bottom composition combines amazing bommie coral formations and a large area of marvellous plate coral. Countless species of tropical reef fish shoaling around the plate coral make a picturesque mid-water encounter and attract many predators. You can spot the occasional green sea turtle. It may happen that bottlenose dolphins interrupt our dive to engage with us.

Groupers, bluefin trevallys, kingfish, baracudas, napoleon wrasses, triggerfish, snappers, octopuses, frogfish, moray eels, mantishrimps, nudibranchs, indian ocean walkmen and many more.

Small Wall
Small Wall is a marvellous dive site for both the experienced and inexperienced divers, situated to the southeast of Mnemba Island.

Reef
The reef is a sloping wall with a steep gradient and a depth range from 5 to 30+ meters. In the shallow part many species of colorful reef fish are schoaling. With a mild current you can enjoy a drift dive along the wall. The more experienced divers can go deeper and occasionally spot white tip reef sharks, napoleon wrasses or sea turtles.
Common Sea Life Sightings
Groupers, moray eels, torpedo rays, scorpionfish, bluespotted ribbontail rays, leaf scorpionfish, nudibranchs and many more.
Big Wall
Big Wall is a perfect deep dive site for experienced advanced divers, situated to the east of Mnemba Island in Zanzibar.

18-35+ meters

Big wall
Reef
The reef is a vertical wall located in the open sea, dropping down from 18 to 35+ meters. Due to the current and depth this dive site is suitable for experienced advanced divers only. Big Wall does not offer many corals, therefore overhangs and caves to explore. With a strong current you can enjoy a drift dive. On occasion you may spot a white tip reef shark and rays.

Napoleon wrasses, tunas, rainbow runners, groupers, lobsters, barracudas, bigeyes.
